3. PAC and IPAC - Update Once we get through the ’11 time transition, North America (NA) will be hosting an xPAC conference every 18 months: continuing the co-sponsoring by APS-DPB and IEEE-NPSS. IPACs in the Spring (’12, ’15, ’18, etc.) and PACs (’13, ’16, ’19, etc.) in the Fall. There will be an IPAC conference every year in the Spring, rotating in the order: Asia, Europe, NA (’12), Asia, Europe, NA (’15), etc. We (APS or IEEE) don’t sponsor or technical co-sponsor (yet) IPACs held outside NA. We work well with colleagues -- European colleagues agreed to shift IPAC’11 to the fall so that there would be little conflict with our planned PAC’11 in New York. It was a technical, industrial and scientific success; as well as a cultural and interchange/discussion success. Books closed now. APS still has not received their funds from IEEE! Loss from the conference about $35,552 (a 3.9% loss), an amount split between APS and IEEE. IEEE has the $25k advance loan from APS on their books. Audited 2010/05/28 by PWC and signed off by TRIUMF 05/31. IEEE owes APS $7.2k ($25k - $17.776k = $7.224k). uWe are still waiting to close our APS books on this conference!!!! Expect 800 attendees. Conference chair is Thomas Roser (BNL), SPC chair is Vladimir Litvinenko (BNL) and LOC chair is Michael Sivertz (BNL). An exciting program has been set up, including tutorial sessions in the morning. Concentration banking account with Wachovia Bank via the IEEE working very well. Both APS and IEEE provided loans of $25k. Expect ~ 1200 attendance (500 rooms booked) A concentration banking account for IPAC’12 has been set up via IEEE conference services. Both APS and IEEE have provided a $25k loan to assist with initial preparations for the conference. The program will consist of plenary sessions on Monday morning and Friday afternoon. The remaining mornings and afternoons will have three parallel sessions each. Although poster sessions will each be for a half day, posters may remain mounted all day to give attendees full opportunity to see them. A student poster session will be held Sunday afternoon. A “Lou Costrell” awards ceremony will be held on Thursday afternoon, when prizes will be given for IEEE, APS, USPAS awards and for the best student posters. As an experiment, several posters per session will be selected (by the SPC) for electronic presentation on large flat screen displays.
