Objectives Digital Movie Creator Software Software Description Learning Areas ICT and Cross Curricular, depending on focus. Levels Level A to E Project Overview Introduce pupils in Inverurie CSN to Digital Movie Creators. Train teachers to use Digital Movie Creators. Produce resources for teacher/pupil use. Support teachers in borrowing and using equipment with classes. The project is outlined in the proposal below and involves purchasing a class set of Digital Movie Creators to enable pupils/teachers to experiment with still photos, movies and animation in ICT and for cross curricular purposes.

2 Using the Digital Movie Creator Teacher Planning and Management Software was installed on all suitable machines and cameras were set up ready for the children to use. A planning format was created to be given to class teachers to show which ICT strands were being covered. Children were give a pre - assessment using a traffic light system to establish prior skills. All children in P4 – 7 were introduced to the Digital Movie Creators by teacher demonstration. Children worked in pairs with one camera between them. A post – assessment was given at the end of the session to establish what had been learned. Documents

3 Using the Digital Movie Creator Teaching Resources A set of teaching resources was then produced for the purpose of training teachers and for teachers to use with pupils in the future. Interested staff were then trained using the resources as a pilot. The resources were then finalised and shared with schools across Aberdeenshire with the future intention of sharing them on Glow. All teachers not trained will be offered further opportunity in the future. Cameras are now located at Hut 1 in Inverurie Academy and are available as a resource for all members of staff to borrow. They are currently being used by ICT Visiting Specialists in other CSN’s within Aberdeenshire. Documents

4 Using the Digital Movie Creator Assessment and Standards Certificates were given to all trained teachers for their CPD folder. All trained teachers were asked to complete an Evaluation of the training to enable it to improved for future sessions. Pupils were given an End of Unit Assessment for self – assessment purposes. So far the project has had great success. It is still ongoing and work is currently being done with the purchased sound morphers. At the moment around 20 classes of P4-7 pupils have had experience of using the Digital Movie Creators and 20 teachers have been trained. As teachers borrow the equipment it is hoped that more and more resources will be produced and shared among Aberdeenshire and Glow in the future. Documents
