2. Power Point Tips
The first thing that you want to do is look at your backgrounds.
Go to Format and select slide design.
It is easier to select one if you go to view enlarged.
Just click on the one you want and it is opened on the main screen.

3. Remember… To SAVE Go to File Click on Save As
and save it to my documents.
4. You might also want to save it to a floppy at the same time.

5. At any time you can change your lay out or color scheme.
You can also animate your slides.
To animate a slide click on slide show.
Look at both the animation schemes and the custom animation.

6. You can also set the timing for your animations.
Click on slide transition
In the right hand margin you will see a bank of options.

7. You may choose a transition, set a speed and sound, or how you want it to move.
You can also remove the bar at the left (outline view) and pull it up only when you want to see it by clicking on the first icon at the lower left of the screen.

8. Next select your format.
Go to Insert new slide.
On the right hand side you will see a choice of layouts.
Play around with all of the options to see how they work.

9. The man is clip art. The rest are graphs etc.
Remember that all of the functions of Microsoft Office still apply in power point (ppt). That means that you can change your font and text color, and do spelling and grammar checks, and edit.

10. You can also import information directly from the Internet, or from Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.

11. Each time that you want to move on, just go back up to Insert and click on new slide.
If you decide to move slides around, you may do so in the left hand margin.
To view the entire slide show, click on the icon at the bottom left that looks like a computer monitor.

12. Printing
There may come a time when you want to print out your slides. When you go to file, print, it will give you different options.
Go to Print what.
Select hand out
Select how many slides per page
Select color or b/w.

13. Citing Sources
Please set the example by correctly citing your Internet sources.
Here at SCHS we use the MLA format for electronic citations.

14. How to cite electronic resources
Authors name (last, first),document
title,(underlined or italics), copyright
date, (mm/dd/yyyy), date accessed
(mm/dd/yyyy), <URL> address.
Be consistent.
The first line is to the margin and each following line is indented five spaces

16. The best thing that you can do now is to play around with it.
Remember, nothing is permanent and you can change things whenever you want.
