3 © Lloyd’s What is Crystal? Crystal is a web-based tool that helps underwriters and brokers manage their regulatory and tax requirements throughout the world. Using Crystal you can gain quick and easy access to key global trading information, including regulatory and taxation information Crystal is free for everyone to use. However, some of the information in Crystal has been restricted to members of the Lloyd's market only. If you are a member of the Lloyd's market you are eligible to register for access this secured content.

5 © Lloyd’s Applying for access to Crystal Once you have you lloyds.com account you will need apply for access to the secured content. 1. Log in to lloyds.com and go to the Crystal homepage, then click the ‘Apply’ button. You will be taken to the Crystal application screen.

6 © Lloyd’s Applying for access to Crystal 2. You will need to provide some additional details and read the disclaimer. 3. Once you have submitted this information your application will be sent to Lloyd’s International Trading Advice team. If you are a Lloyd's market participant (Lloyd's underwriters, Lloyd's brokers, Lloyd's coverholders or other Lloyd's market participants) and have applied for access to Crystal during UK business hours (09:00 to 17:00), your access level will be confirmed within two hours. 7 © Lloyd’s Searching in Crystal To start searching the information in Crystal click on the ‘New search’ in the main navigation. This will take you to the search page where you can select the countries you are interested in and the relevant type of search. You can select as many countries as you want: New search Select countries

8 © Lloyd’s Searching in Crystal There are two types of searches that you can run in Crystal: A tailored search enables you create your own search criteria by selecting from the list of categories and sub-categories available on the search screen. Quick searches are pre-defined searches that have been created by Lloyd's to provide quick access to frequently requested searches such as quick reference guides. You can only run one type of search at a time. Tailored search Quick search

9 © Lloyd’s Searching in Crystal To run a tailored search firstly select the countries you are interested in from the ‘Select a country’ box. Next, click on the ‘Expand all’ button at the top of the ‘Tailored search’ box. This will expand all the categories to show the sub-categories available. Select the sub-category/ies you are interested in by checking the box next to it/them and then click the ‘Create a tailored search’ button at the bottom. 10 © Lloyd’s Searching in Crystal To run a quick search first select the countries you are interested in from the ‘Select a country’ box. Next, choose the search you want to run by clicking the button next to it. For more information on what each search contains hover over the search name with your mouse. You can only run one quick search at a time. When you are ready to run the search click the ‘Create quick search’ button at the bottom. 11 © Lloyd’s Results screen This is the search results screen with the main features labelled. Over the next few slides we will look at what each one does. Key information Refine this search, printing and save this search. Country and category view More detail

12 © Lloyd’s Your search results can either be viewed by country or category. The default view for results is the country view, to switch to category view click the ‘category’ tab at the bottom of the left-hand navigation. Country view – organises the information so that everything to do with a country appears directly underneath it. Category view – organises the information so it is grouped under the category it belongs to. This view is most useful when you want to compare a piece of information across a number of countries, eg finding out about Lloyd's authorisation in France, Germany and Belgium. 13 © Lloyd’s Within your results you may notice ‘+ More information’. This indicates that there is more detailed information relating to this category. To view the detail simply click on the ‘+’ icon and the ‘More information’ will be expanded. If the ‘More information’ has a icon next to it this indicates that you need to log in or register to see this information. If you still see the padlock when you have logged in it means that you do not have access to this information. More detail More detail expandedMore detail collapsed

14 © Lloyd’s Key information To view the ‘Key information’ for your search click on the orange ‘Key information’ tab. The key information can only be viewed by country. The key information tab contains details that Lloyd's brokers and underwriters should consider before accepting any risk in the countries chosen in the search. The information has been chosen to give an overview of Lloyd's ability to trade in the countries you have chosen in your search. Information highlighted includes whether Lloyd's can trade in a country, whether or not sanctions are in place, what defines a risk for that country, how to approach writing a global policy and Quality Assurance check information. 15 © Lloyd’s Printing in Crystal If you want to print out your search there are two options you can choose from: Print report – this will print out all of the information that Crystal has brought back for your search. Print results on this screen – this will only print out the results currently being displayed in the scrollable area, eg in our example we would get a print out the information on Brazil. Remember, if you are looking at your results in the ‘country view’ then the print out will also be in this order. Print report and print results Scrollable area

16 © Lloyd’s Saving your search If you have found your search useful you can save it to use again. Click on the icon and you will be taken to the ‘Saved searches’ page. On this page give your search a name and a description before saving it. Once saved the name, description and link will be added to the page, this page will only display your saved searches to you. There is no limit to the number of searches that you can save and they will not be removed from Crystal unless you decide to delete them. Please note: you can only save your searches if you have registered for a Crystal account. Give your search a name and description Previous saved searches Saved searches section

17 © Lloyd’s Refine your search Finally, if you get to the search results page and decide your results are not quite what you wanted, you can return to your original search criteria by clicking on the ‘Refine your search’ link. If you want to start a completely new search then click on ‘New search’ in the main navigation. Refine your search Start a new search

18 © Lloyd’s Interactive map Alongside Crystal there is also an interactive map which provides a visual overview of where Lloyd's is licensed and authorised to transact insurance business. To use the interactive map you will need to have Flash 8 or above installed on your computer. If you do not have Flash installed you can download it from the Adobe website Adobe website Interactive map link

19 © Lloyd’s Interactive map. Click on a country to find out high level information about Lloyd’s trading position and the Lloyd’s representative for that territory. Using the dropdown at the top of the map you can quickly see what territories Lloyd’s has licenses and authorisations, life licenses and authorisations, Lloyd’s representation and market intelligence. When you select a category from the dropdown it will highlight the countries your choice applies to. There is also a ‘list view’ of all this information available. Click on a country for more information about Lloyd’s trading position and the Lloyd’s representative Use radio buttons to switch between the map and list view Country information dropdown
