1 A floor manager is a director’s hands inside the studio. The floor manager controls: Relaying messages from the director to crew members Alerts the director to any problems inside the studio Has control over the personnel inside the studio

2 Before showtime a floor director has to check the following things: Check all the headsets to make sure they work Make sure all the cameras are in their proper position and can be easily moved to their next shot All cameras are properly white/black balanced after lighting is done

3 Check with audio engineer to make sure everyone has a microphone Makes sure everyone who needs a script/rundown has one

4 DURING PRODUCTION Gives cast & crew time signals (1 minute signal, 30 seconds, 10 down, etc.) Gets time signals from asst. director who is counting in the control room. Should stand in-between cameras 1 and 2. Gives talent clear and unmistakable cues

5 Indicates which camera is up next, and when it is taken Indicates when the shoot is over by saying clear Tells the crew to strike the set, when instructed to do so by the director Does not leave the studio until everything is put away
