What is leadership? Leadership is the behaviourial qualities of the manager,by which he guides and directs the energies of the subordinates, who attend their work with enthusiasm and zeal.

Leadership is the personal quality of the manager. Leadership is the continuous process of influencing employees behavior. Leadership develops relationship and confidence. Leadership is related to particular situation. Features of leadership:

Qualities of a Leader: Intelligence Self-confidence. Vision and foresight Maturity. Dynamic and dominating personality. Positive attitude. Human touch.

Difference b/w Management and Leadership: Management has wider scope, whereas Leadership is only its part. Manager directs employees with its formal authority, whereas leadership exercises informal authority. Management can be formal only but leadership can be both formal and informal.

Importance of leadership: Developing team spirit. Establishing relationship b/w top management and subordinates. Dynamic direction. Worker’s friend, philosopher and guide. Modification of behavior.
