2 Welcome Address & Introductions Mrs. Keisha Brinkley Principal of AHS Welcome Class of 2019!

3 Ninth Grade Academy Mr. Brian Bell 9 th Grade Administrator Mission: To provide a supportive environment for 9th grade students that fosters academic, career and personal growth

4 Ninth Grade Academy Goals Successful transition from middle school to high school Increase the promotion rate to 10th grade Improve communication between students, parents and teachers

5 Ninth Grade Academy Some Highlights CORE classes located in the 9th Grade Academy Hallways Academically rigorous education that maintains high expectations for all students Careful monitoring of student performance Frequent contact between school and parents Interventions for struggling students Recognition of accomplishments

6 The Scheduling Process Mrs. Statham will visit Meredith MS on February 17 th, Waters MS on February 18 th, and Redding MS on February 19 th to: – Distribute course catalogues & course selection sheets – Present scheduling information – Discuss the transition from middle school to high school – Answer questions

7 Scheduling Process Counselors will return to the middle schools to review & collect students’ course selections & answer questions: – Meredith MS: Monday, February 23 rd – Waters MS: Wednesday, February 25 th – Redding MS: Friday, February 27 th Students should bring their completed course selection sheets to school on the date of their scheduled school visit

8 New Registrants Students who are not enrolled at Meredith, Redding, or Waters MS, must register in order to attend AHS Mrs. Statham will visit MOT Charter on March 6 th & St. Anne’s on March 18 th to present & distribute course selection and registration information

9 New Registrants We encourage families to “pre- register” by April 30 th to ensure your child receives his/her requested classes. Course catalogues & course selection sheets will be posted on our website appohigh.org Registration packets will be available in the commons.
