3 TRAINING OFFER PROGRAM ( 4 WEEKS) Courses’ Programs, seminars and conferences provided by specialists in the field, through modern and appropriate teaching strategies. A mixture of traditional and modern cultural and artistic activities; allowing an insight into the social, economic and cultural diversity of the Arab world. Excursions and trips to explore different parts of the country depending on the length of the stay. NB: This program is devoted to intensive training in classical Arabic. The number of students is limited to 15 students max per class

4 ARABIC INTENSIVE COURSE 25 HOURS PER WEEK LevelProgram(1) (manual Al- Kitab) Description (according to ACTFL* standards Beginner 1Alif-Baa booklet, & Al- Kitab 1, lessons 1-5 By the end of beginner 2 students will have reached a “Low Intermediate” Level by ACTFL standards Beginner 2Al-Kitab 1 Lessons 6-end (1) Al-Erfan proposes two manuals (Al-Kitab, and Ayam Wa Layali) Al-Kitab for US Students and Ayam Wa Layali for EC students ACTFL: American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages; American organization determining the standards of proficiency followed by most language departments of American universities. NB : these courses represent 95 hours a month and are considered as 18 credits.

27 HOUSING & CATERING Students are accommodated in private homes, or Al-Erfan dormitories. It depends on the applicants’ choice. Host families are already pre-selected. The students are housed in different parts of the city for the host families option or in Al Erfan dormitories. In both cases, the applicant can choose: full board, semi-boarding, or no board.

28 SECURITY AND TRANSPORT Each group of five students has a guardian from the UIR, a bona fide student. Trips to and from the UIR are provided by the university. Students have a telephone number where they can reach a manager at any time.
