My Goals To give your child the academic and social skills needed to progress to third grade. To provide a supportive, nurturing and fun classroom environment. To help them make new friends and discover new interests.

Daily Class Schedule Specials Monday – Wednesday: P.E. Thursday & Friday: Music Art: every Tuesday 1:15-1:45pm Library: Fridays from 1:15-1:45 Lunch: 11:05am-11:35pm

Homework Homework will be stored in the “hub” folder Newsletter with the week’s assignment’s will be emailed the Friday in advance. Tuesday folders are still digital this year. Please check attached page for updated averages – sign each Tuesday. Incentive chart for homework completion

How to Earn Stickers! Monday: Parents sign homework assignment page for the week Tuesday: Parents sign Tuesday folder Wednesday: Math homework completion Thursday: Reading homework completion Friday: 3 spelling assignments completed from the menu (which will also be stored in the hub folder) 20 stickers = a free homework pass!

The “Hub” The Hub will be our purple daily folder. In it you will find the homework for the week, behavior calendar for the month and the spelling menu. Students MUST bring this to and from school each day so behavior can be recorded daily and reviewed by you each night.

Behavior Calendar Calendar will be stamped with bingo markers daily: E = green S = yellow N = orange U = red Orange can result in a loss of extra recess and a written consequence (essay, apology letter, etc). Red will result in a parent phone call and/or email to discuss how the child earned red and what can happen in the future to avoid it. Classroom Bingo – reward system

Reading Weekly tests covering spelling, vocabulary and comprehension/application of the weekly reading strategy. Book Shares – at home project. 2 per nine weeks. Kids choose their own book Log their reading Create a product and present it for the class. First Book Share project will be done IN CLASS so students can get used to the process

Math New math curriculum Hands on – manipulatives Discovering and creating math concepts, not just memorization Interactive notebook Online quizzes and tests

School hours Students will go to the gym when they arrive to school in the morning Children will be released to the classroom at 8:00am Please call the attendance office if your child is going to be absent. School ends at 3:15 P.M. each day.

Gifted & Talented Referrals To refer your child for the Gifted & Talented program contact the school counselor, Mrs. Murphy, to request a referral packet. The referral window is August 27 th - September 27th

Volunteers Welcome! Donations of pencils, glue sticks, post-it notes, Kleenex and dry erase markers are always appreciated

Conferences November 6th will be parent conferences However, I am always happy to conference with you at another time during the school year (except Mondays).
