1 History and Role of the FAEIS Peer Panel 2010 FAEIS Peer Panel Meeting Dallas, TX

2 Add your company slogan LOGO FAEIS Origins  Was started in 1983 and managed by Texas A&M.  1983 was only two years after the invention of the Internet.  Ronald Reagan was President.  Record of the years was “Rosanna” by Toto.  Best Picture was “E.T, the Extra-Terrestrial”  Original Purpose: Current enrollment and placement data.

3 Add your company slogan LOGO Texas A&M: 1983-1999  Texas A&M did not have such a thing as a database. This is quite understandable, given the times!  FAEIS data were in individual files. A file consisted of a single program within a department, within a single college, and within a single university. Hundreds of files per year, accumulating each year. Eventually, a gigantic mound of files that had to be individually examined to create any enrollment table.  Y2K became an insurmountable issue for Texas A&M. Their program for creating the files was not Y2K complaint.  Texas A&M officially ceased their support of FAEIS in late 1999.
