4 What is Windows? An operating system Also called system software Tells the computer what to do when you turn on the power button Helps the computer carry out basic tasks – printing, saving, etc.

10 Scroll Bars VerticalHorizontal Click UP arrow To move up Click DOWN arrow To move down Drag scroll bar To move in Either direction You may click anywhere in the scroll box to move an entire screen

11 Windows Menus Grayed out – cannot use at this time. Ellipsis (…) – Dialog box appears asking for more information. Check mark (√) – Command is in effect. Toggle button. Key combination – CTRL + P. Keyboard shortcuts. Triangle (  ) – A submenu will appear.
