Production Plan Introduction / Aim To effectively plan out each stage of manufacturing in detail before actually developing your chosen product

Learning Objectives By the end of today’s lesson you will be able to: Develop an understanding as to why it is important to plan out each stage of production Provide a broken down guide as to how you are planning to develop your final product Compare your production plan with another pupil to check that you have covered all the key areas

Stage No. / Component Description Tools, equipment, and material SafetyQuality ControlTime 1 Mark out and cut base for bottom of bird box Tools: Tenon saw, bench hook, 30cm ruler, engineers square Material: Pine Safety goggles worn to protect eyes. Apron worn to protect clothing The bird box base will be marked out using an engineers square to check all corners are at 90 degree angles. The measurements will be double checked before any cutting starts. 15 minutes 2Mark out and trim down lead sheet for roof flashing Tools: permenant pen, 30cm ruler, tin snips Material: Roll of sheet lead Safety goggles worn to protect eyes. The roof flashing will be marked out using an engineers square to check all corners are at 90 degree angles. The measurements will be double checked before any cutting starts. 20 minutes

CONCLUSION I have learnt that:  At every step of manufacture tests and checks will have to be made to maintain high quality production and to sustain high quality control and fulfil my specification points. AIMS  To plan the process of manufacture effectively Above is a combined making plan of the logo, Packaging and Point of Sale Display. Organisation is critical to become a successful designer as designers need to plan the use of time in order to reduce costs. Additionally it sets a guideline of small tasks to ensure the product is finished before the deadline. Objective (Process) DiagramExplanationTools and Materials TimeHealth and SafetyQuality Control Checks Order Materials In order to begin the process of making I need to order the necessary materials 1 week for products to arrive Not ApplicableCheck the quality and size of the material is correct. Also make sure the materials have no imperfections and are cost effective. Design logo by hand and question target market I need to find a powerful logo and one that attracts the target market. The best way to find their opinions is y asking them their thoughts on the designs. Fine liner Paper Pencil Rendering Pencils 1 weekNo eating or drinking near computers Act responsibly with computers Ensure the colours used are suitable for my target market. Check that the theme attracts young girls. Check the logos have sufficient text or images and is bold and effective as well as original. Design Final logo on computer The final logo needs to be designed on 2D Design Tools so it can be plotted off. Computer 2D design Tools 1 weekNo eating or drinking near computers Act responsibly with computers Make sure the logo is effective, striking and bold. Ensure it is drawn accurately on 2D design tools and is the right size etc. Design net on computer for packaging and point of sale display Begin to map out all nets accurately on 2D design tools Computer 2D design tools 1 weekNo eating or drinking near computers Act responsibly with computers Make sure all nets cut accurately, all angles and sides correct and of the right size Plot off nets of packaging and Point of Sale Display with the logo The plotter will score the lines on the card and will plot out the net accurately and quickly. Computer Plotter Card 2 daysNo eating or drinking near computers Act responsibly with computers Act responsible around the plotter Make sure all lines cut out accurately and the cut line is smooth and straight. Cut out the nets Using a scalpel knife cut the lines scored by the plotter to cut out the nets Scalpel Cutting mat 3 daysBe careful with the sharp blade of the scalpel. Use a cutting mat Tie hair back Make sure all lines cut out accurately and the cut line is smooth and straight. Dry assemble nets Without any glue see if the net fits together properly 1 day Assemble nets I need to glue all the tabs and assemble the nets together. Glue1 dayUse glue carefully and on a working mat. Make sure net assembles properly, all tabs in the correct place Finishing touches Add the lettering to the front of the packaging.Add the barcode and ingredients to the bottom of the packaging Computer Acetate Photocopier Plotter Self Adhesive paper 1 weekNo eating or drinking near computers Act responsibly with computers Act responsible around the plotter Make sure the P.O.S and packaging look professional and attractive and fulfil all specification requirements.

Areas to include in your Production Plan Title – Production / Making Plan Introduction / Aim of Page – A quick summary as to why you are completing this page. e.g. To effectively plan each stage of manufacture Evaluation / Conclusion – Why is this page an important part of your coursework. e.g. By completing this page I now have a clear understanding of what stages are involved in the manufacture of my chosen product. Some stages I may have overlooked if I had not completed this planning stage before actually starting practical

If you finish your production plan in your books you need to research: What does the term recycling mean? Also research the three main types of recycling which are primary, secondary or physical, or tertiary / chemical recycling Name some materials that are made from recycled products List products that can be recycled
