Cholesterol History and definition 1954 – the cientist David Kritchevsky, showed that cholesterol produced atherosclerosis in rabbits Is a steroid, found in cell membranes and transported in the blood plasma of all animals. It is an essential component of cell membranes of mammals. Most of the cholesterol is present in the body synthesized by the body itself and only a small part acquired by the diet.
