2. WHAT IS CBI? CBI is designed to provide second-language learners instruction in content and language Genesee (1994) suggests that content '...need not be academic; it can include any topic, theme, or non- language issue of interest or importance to the learners' (p. 3).

CBI supports contextualized learning; learners are taught useful language that is embedded within relevant discourse contexts rather than as isolated language fragments Complex information is delivered through real life context for the students to grasp well & leads to intrinsic motivation. In CBI information is reiterated by strategically delivering information at right time & situation compelling the students to learn out of passion. Greater flexibility & adaptability in the curriculum can be deployed as per the student's interest. It gives hands on experience to the learner.
