9 Redlands East Valley Graduation Requirements The minimum requirements for graduation include: 4 years of English 2 years of Math (Alg. 1 or equivalent) (4 years) 3 years of Social Studies 2 years of Science (1 yr. Life, 1 yr. Physical) (3 years) 2 years of P.E. 1 yr Fine Art or Foreign Lang. (1 yr. art AND 2 yr. foreign lang. ) 1 semester of Health 1 semester of Physical Geography (9 th grade req.) 80 Elective Credits

10 Redlands East Valley Graduation Requirements (continued) 225 credits are required for graduation. Students earn approximately 60 credits each year. All students are required to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)

11  Take at least five solid academic classes every semester.  Start with the basics, and then move on to challenging yourself in advanced courses.  Aim to get “C” or higher in all of your classes. 12 English (Language Arts)  Take English every year.

13 Math  Most colleges want students with three years of high school math.  The more competitive colleges prefer four years. Algebra I Algebra II Geometry Trigonometry Calculus

14 Social Studies  Improve your understanding of local and world events by studying the cultures and history that helped shape them. World History U.S. History U.S. Government / Economics

15  Science teaches you how to think analytically and how to apply theories to reality.  Colleges want to see that you’ve taken at least three years of laboratory science classes. Biology Chemistry Advanced Sciences Science **Schools that are more competitive expect four years of lab science courses, which you may be able to get by taking advanced classes in these same areas.

16 Foreign Languages & The Arts  Solid foreign language study shows that you're willing to stretch beyond the basics. Most colleges require at least two years of study in the same foreign language, and some prefer more.  Research indicates that students who participate in the arts often do better in school and on standardized tests. Most colleges require a full year in the arts. Good choices include studio art, dance, music and drama.
