3  Majority have only companies as members  Australia, Great Britain, Israel, Turkey, and USA have individual members.  Brazil, Belgium, Germany and Italy have local association as members.  Netherlands and Portugal have 1 or more branches.

4  Majority have only one category of membership  Some have Associated memberships who are companies related to or involved in shipping but not as their primary business. This membership category typically does not hold voting privileges.

5  Majority charge annual dues fee. Some base this fee on the number of offices, number of employees, or port served (Denmark, USA and Mexico). Sweden & Hungary have a single flat fee. Peru has a monthly flat fee.  Members whose members are primarily ship agents typically charge a fee per vessel call or based on vessel’s NRT (Israel).  South Africa and Bulgaria charge an annual fee and a fee per vessel call.  Philippines has an initiation fee, monthly dues and fees per vessel call.  Germany charges their local associations a flat fee per member company.  Brazil’s FENAMAR receives a % of the vessel fees collected by the local associations.

Member ship agents pay their local associations a fee per vessel call of which FENAMAR receives 30%. Liner vessel value from USD 40 to 65 per call and Non-liner value of USD 120 per call.  Membership Criteria Member ship agents must provide all documentation/papers proving regular registration and must agree to abide by the local Association’s By-Laws.

26  24 Members  No Full time Staff  Income 100% Dues  Membership Criteria Members must register with Court’s Register Republic of Croatia, Harbor Master’s registration of ship brokers and agents, have licensed employees as boarding agents, legal requirement of financial guarantee and separate accounts by principal.

Ship Brokers are regulated by Law 478/68 Middle School Diploma, pass special exam and registered at the local Chamber of Commerce.

The designated representative must have a minimum of 5 years experience with 2 years with the member company or abroad. Member companies must also be financially healthy.
