By Amanda (Mandy) Hart

I was born in Perry, Georgia in July of 1987. A little fun fact about me is that I was named after the Barry Manilow song “Mandy” (no joke)! I have an amazing family: mom & stepdad dad brother (Matt - 13) & step-sister (Caitlin - 14) & 2 of the sweetest dogs you’ll ever meet – Sandy & Holly Holly Matt & Sandy

I attended Westfield Schools (private school) of Perry for all 13 years & graduated in 2005 with 35 other seniors. I was on the varsity dance team (the Vespidaettes) for 4 years & was named Captain my senior year. Through the dance team & the school, I was able to have a couple of great experiences by performing in the New Years Day Parade in both Paris (2003) & London (2004) on the Universal Dance Association All-Star Team! I was also on the yearbook staff for 2 years & was editor-in-chief my senior year. Most of my inspiration to become a teacher was from many of the teachers I met during my years at Westfield. The Graduating Class of 2005….minus a few!

I started dancing when I was 2 at KidsAmerica. I learned how to dance on pointe at the young age of 11. Jazz & tap were always my favorite styles. Every year, the studio would perform at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. Each year was a new opportunity, & leadership was a requirement by the older girls (from choreographing dances, to assisting younger classes, etc.) Sophomore year (tap) Senior year (jazz)

My brother (Matt) started martial arts in 2001…..& because it looked fun, I started training 2 years later! I am currently a Specialty Certified Instructor & a 2 nd degree black belt at Eddie Lott’s ATA Black Belt Academy in Statesboro, GA. Because I can no longer perform in dancing, I switched to TaeKwonDo tournaments instead. Since (& even before) the switch, I’ve been named a Triple Crown State of Georgia Champion in my division for the years 2004, 2005, 2006, & (currently, but not yet official) 2007! Me & my awesome friend Nikol (from Illinois) Click Here!! World Championships 2006 -- 4 th in the World (weapons)

As I said before, most of my teaching inspiration came from some of the teachers I met while I attended Westfield: Mrs. June Stubbs (3 rd grade) Mrs. Stubbs had the heaviest impact on my decision to become a teacher! She’s the sweetest & most caring person I’ve ever met…yet she stills has ways of keeping students in line. She taught me a couple of tricks to teaching & a way to stay in favor of the students. She was also my mother’s 6 th grade teacher & my brother’s 3 rd grade teacher! Me & Mrs. Stubbs

Mrs. Jean Floyd (10 th & 12 th grade English) Mrs. Floyd was also known as the “popular teacher” in school because all the high school students loved having her class…not because of the subject, but the way she would get down to the student’s level of understanding & teach/explain the material. Our senior year, she even started some classes off with discussion about the latest rumors that she had heard about us!

Hope you were able to learn a little about me out of this presentation! Have a GREAT day!!
