9© 2009 PTC PTC’s Approach to Software Quality We do not ship software based on a date. We ship software when the product meets our quality criteria. During the development of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0, we changed these thresholds. During the development of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0, we changed these thresholds once again. Quality Improvement Index has been established to track and report on the improvements to PTC software quality on a monthly basis. Ship Production !

10© 2009 PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 By the numbers… 500 Requirements Documents 349 Active R&D Projects 175 Man-Years of New Development Over $100 Million R&D investment in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 Development Cycle Mean Time to Failure increased by 17% Performance increased by 10% overall Mean Time to Serious Defect increased by 96% 6.6% Smaller memory footprint than Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 4 new exciting Pro/ENGINEER modules! 11 Not just “Round All”; but true Auto Round! Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 Faster Design - New Auto Round TM Feature Current Situation Pro/ENGINEER’s industry leading geometry kernel provides powerful modeling capabilities, and feature agility However, some complexity is inherent in that power… –Which edges, in which sequence, with what transition types? Auto Round Reduce the time to add round features to the model Create complex rounds more easily Through intelligent analysis of model before rounding, Pro/ENGINEER automatically rounds as many edges as possible from the entire model or selected set –Creates set of features whose sequence and edge sets are defined according to internal logic to maximize the number of rounded chains. Provides complete control over results, and more flexible editing of rounds versus competitor’s solutions 11© 2009 PTC Manual Addition of Rounds* 75 minutes Auto Round Feature 4 minutes 15 sec. Manual Addition of Rounds* 75 minutes Auto Round Feature 4 minutes 15 sec. *Intermediate User Auto Round is 20 times faster !!! Original Model

Pro/ENGINEER Rights Management Extension Market Trends Discrete manufacturers capture tremendously valuable IP in their CAD models –Emergence of model-based definition Increasing amount of valuable information captured in the CAD model (design intent captured in annotations, tolerance ranges, performance requirements and optimizations) Explosion of design and manufacturing outsourcing & off-shoring increases the need for robust IP protection Unauthorized use of IP can be costly Challenge Protecting IP outside of the secure PLM system and other traditional IT security infrastructure New Module 23© 2009 PTC

Pro/ENGINEER Rights Management Extension Protect Part, Assembly and Drawing IP Persistently and Dynamically In addition to PDM or content management systems –Controls access to the content within a file –File is encrypted, but permissions are stored independently Why? Conduct RFP with Suppliers Send IP to Supplier/Design Partner for Design in Context Send IP to Suppliers/Partners for Design Review Expiring out-of-date versions in order to prevent people from working with the wrong data Terminating a business relationship or contract with a partner or terminating an employee How? Digital encryption Identity management Permission management Pro/ENGINEER controls digital content use New Module 24© 2009 PTC

Workflow for Rights Management of Pro/ENGINEER Data 1.) Policies are defined on a policy server. Who can access the file ? What can they do with file ? How long will the policy be in effect ? 2.) Policy applied to files from directly within Pro/ENGINEER 3.) Files are encrypted, and then shared 4.) Upon subsequent loading, user authenticates, Pro/ENGINEER decrypts files, and permits certain operations Policies may be cached on the client to allow for off-line work for limited time Complete auditing capabilities detail who attempted to do what and when Same technology can also be used to protect MS Office and PDF files Protected Pro/ENGINEER files Parts (.PRT) Assemblies (.ASM) Drawings (.DRW) Permissions Open, Print, Save & Copy New Module 25© 2009 PTC

Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0 Enhancements …with Windchill PDMLink and Pro/INTRALINK Improved Pro/ENGINEER Data Management via Windchill PDMLink, Pro/INTRALINK Undo / Redo in the Workspace (Windchill 9.1) Improve external simplified rep. and Windchill interoperability (BoM-like display of ESR members) Support “Integrate” Capabilities with Windchill Improved PDM Versioning of drawings, to make drawings more PDM friendly Integration of Shape Indexing with Windchill Extensive Performance Improvements HTML UI Sort & Filter Performance Improvement; Improve responsiveness of Workspace Cache Limit Management for new Client Connector Reduce memory & improve performance of large family table New Reference Manipulation and Improved Reference Viewing “Our top-down design processes are very structured, with clearly defined rules that our designers and engineers adhere to. It’s nice to see that the external reference pattern link can finally be broken from a PDM standpoint, thereby allowing us to utilize that very easy and useful technique again. We have no doubt that the added functionality and increased flexibility of Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0, coupled with the improvements we've seen in Windchill PDMLink 9.0, will assist us in continuing to improve product development at Alcon." Frank Menendez, Principle Engineer, Alcon Research 26© 2009 PTC
