2. We are all members of the Right 2B Group We make up the school council but we changed our name because we believe rights in school are really important and it is something we want everyone to know about.

3. About UNICEF UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. Every child, no matter who they are or where they live, has the right to grow up safe, happy and healthy.

4. What is the UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award? This is an award that we are working towards in school. It means that everyone in our school is learning about their ‘rights’ and what it means to respect the rights of others. We have received our ROC already! (Recognition of Commitment)

5. There are lots or rights that the UN convention has decided are important. We have chosen the ones that we think are most important for us in school and these are the rights that we are going to learn about and draw about, back in our classrooms. You will see these rights around school on our different charters. We have classroom charters, a lunchtime Charter and cloakroom charters so far.

6. I have a right to an education that teaches me to respect the environment. Article 29 How do we do this in St Anne’s? We have an eco group We recycle our paper We learn about the environment in class Can you think of any more things we already do or maybe something you think we should do…

7. How do we do this in St Anne’s? We have a wide range of toys and games in each classroom. We have lots of opportunities to play different sports and games outside. We have good outdoor play equipment. What else??? I have the right to relax and play and to take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities. Article 31

8. How do we do this in St Anne’s? Our School Council – Right 2B group. Lego Head for ideas Our teachers listen to us and take us seriously. What else do we do? What else could we do? I have a right to have a say what I think should happen when adults are making decisions that affect me. Article 12

9. I have a right to an education that develops my personality, talents and abilities to the full and teaches me to respect myself, others, my own culture and other cultures. Article 29 How do we do this in St Anne’s?

10. One of our rights is… “The right to be heard.” We want to hear from YOU! If you have ideas about what you would like to happen in school and especially things to do with our rights, post your ideas in our Lego Head Suggestion Box in the main hall!

11. As the Right 2B Group one of the things we are working on is tidying up our cloakrooms. Mr Lidster has now started judging which cloakrooms are the tidiest and DoJo points have been awarded to those classes…not only that but the winning class will get to keep our new ‘Best Kept Cloakroom’ trophy for a week! 1 st – 3 DoJo points 2 nd – 2 DoJo points 3 rd – 1 DoJo points I have the right to the best possible health, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment. Article 24

12. We have sent a leaflet home and to our school governors so that everyone knows that rights are important in our school.

13. Our next project is establishing a Friendship stop…write any ideas you have and put them in the lego head or tell your class Right 2B rep!

15. A time to Hope – Your kingdom come… Dear God We thank you for Unicef and other organizations that work for children and their rights. Thank you God that every child no matter who they are or where they live has the right to grow up safe, happy and healthy. We thank you for the good things in our lives and the rights that we enjoy. Help us to be agents of change where children don’t have these rights and help us to bring hope to them. We believe that we can be the answer to someone else’s prayer. Fill us with your hope today – fill us with your light from head to toe. Help us to walk in your light, and to live our lives in faith and love and with respect for others. In Jesus Name Amen
