1 What is the Food Pyramid?
The food pyramid sorts different foods into groups.

2 Grains The orange food group represents:
Any food made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley or another cereal grain is a grain product. Bread Pasta Oatmeal Rice

3 Vegetables The green food group represents:
Any vegetable or 100% vegetable juice counts as a member of the vegetable group. Broccoli Carrots Corn Tomatoes

4 Any fruit or 100% fruit juice counts as part of the fruit group.
The red food group represents: Fruits Any fruit or 100% fruit juice counts as part of the fruit group. Apples Blueberries Grapes Oranges

5 Milk The blue food group represents:
All fluid milk products and many foods made from milk are a part of this food group. White Milk Chocolate Milk Cheddar Cheese Cottage Cheese

6 The purple food group represents:
Meat and Beans All foods made from meat, poultry, fish, dry beans or peas, eggs, nuts, and seeds are considered part of this group. Eggs Chicken Beans Shrimp
