3 Highlight of Current Activities (2) Healthcare  TR-49 Multi-Media Access, Protocols and Interfaces  TR-30 Smart Device Communications  TR-50  TIA manages more than 70 committees, including serving as Secretariat for 3GPP2 and several TCs and TAGs

4 Highlight of Current Activities (3)  TIA is a collaborative organization with procedural and institutional connections with many other organizations and SDOs worldwide

5 5 Geneva, 13-16 July 2009  The 2009-2010 TIA Standards and Technology Annual Report (PDF at tiaonline.org ) 60-page summary of the committees and standards activitiestiaonline.org  2010 TIA Industry Playbook highlights ICT market and driving policies  2010 ICT Market Review & Forecast projects trends 4 years out  EIATRACK ( eiatrack.org) is TIA’s global information service tracking environmental regulations for RoHS, WEEE, REACH, EuP, energy efficiency, dfE  CTP TIA’s vendor-neutral convergence certification programs for individuals to validate standards-based knowledge in convergent technologies  TIA is launching a new Digital Marketing Platform Highlight of Current Activities (4)

6 6 Geneva, 13-16 July 2009 Strategic Direction TIA  Lobbies for appropriate regulation and removal of barriers to ubiquitous deployment of broadband networks  Promotes free-trade agreements  Advances technology neutrality  Facilitates going “Green” using intelligent transportation systems, energy efficiency, virtual events and other environmental initiatives

7 7 Geneva, 13-16 July 2009 SDO Challenges  Current economic conditions  With Market Convergence – also see the need to: strengthen existing cooperation agreements and consider increased joint cooperation with other organizations in developing standards, conformity assessment, and related areas.  More companies are restricting travel, thus TIA promotes the use of virtual meetings through GoToMeeting and other technologies.

8 8 Geneva, 13-16 July 2009 Other TIA Activities since GSC-14  TIA IPR SC has met several times A detailed report will be given to GSC IPRWG Seeks Reaffirmation of the three GSC IPR Resolutions  Participated in 2010 Don Purcell Survey on Priorities for Standards Education  Filed 27 documents with the FCC on issues such as Public safety networks, universal service support, broadband internet service
