3 The technology process The technology process has four steps:  Identifying: we define the problem  Designing: we think what we can do to solve the problem  Building: we make the object  Testing: finally we have to check if the object that we made has solved the problem OK

4 The technology process How to cross a river??? Identifying: there is a river and we want to cross it Designing: we can build a bridge with wood Building: we put stakes into the ground and hammer boards on them Testing: we put some sacks with sand to check if the bridge is strong enough

7 The technology process How can we hang a painting on the wall?  Identifying: There is wall plug and we want to hang a picture  Designing: we can hang the picture with a screw  Building: we drill in the wall, then we put the screw with a screwdriver and afterwards we hang the picture  Testing: we have to check with a level and with our hands we pull down to know if it is strong enough level

9 Rules for the workshop If you have any wounds, burns, etc you have to tell your teacher immediately Follow the rules strictly The material is expensive, so try to take care of it Working procedure:  First of all: think for yourself how to do it  Then: ask your teacher for help  Finally: Try to do it by yourself

10 Rules for the workshop Hygiene rules at work  Keep your hands clean and dry. You are going to work with high volt electrity  In order not to get trapped by a rotating machine don’t wear loose clothing  Clean and keep your desk in order while you are working

11 Rules for the workshop SPOKESPERSON: She/he will explain and write what you have made TOOLS MANAGER: He/she will control the tools in the panel (schedule). She/he will sign the control sheet at the beginning and at the end of the session MATERIAL MANAGER: He/she will control and look after the material needed for the project CLEANING MANAGER: He/she will make sure that everything is clean. SECURITY PERSON: she/he will control the safety rules. All of you will take part in each task, so you will use the tools, materials, and you also have to clean and follow the safety rules

18 Rules for the workshop You are not allowed to move from your working table, unless you want to ask me something Never shout my name, If you need something you have to come close to me If I count to three, or I raise my hand you have to stop IMMEDIATELY

19 Tool control The tools manager has to check the tool board everyday, at the beginning and at the end of the class.

20 Tool control sheet If everything is okay you sign If something is missing you should write the name of the tool
