4 What's the Biome? Biome: A coral reef; home to a different organisms.
Coordinates: 24° 41’N 81°14’ W Similar Biomes: In the Indian Ocean near equator This is a biome!

5 Abiotic Factors There are two seasons: Wet season (May to October) Dry season (November to April) Precipitation: High in May to June

11 The overall daily temperature is 85˚F and lower in the rain.
Climate: a tropical maritime climate ( hot and humid). Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Description: Partly sunny. Warm. Mostly cloudy. Warm. Partly cloudy. Warm. Widely scattered storms. Mostly sunny. Warm. Temperature: 82 °F 81 °F 87 °F

12 5.5 inches of rain each month
Hurricane Season :June 1 and November % chance of a hurricane September is where the most rain fall happens.

13 Main Organisms: Coral reefs, algae, and fishes.
Biotic Factors Main Organisms: Coral reefs, algae, and fishes. World’s third largest barrier reef for habitat for fishes and other marine life. Above is a picture of the fishes that live there.

14 Below is a graph of the energy Florida Keys get each year.
Different organisms give off energy and get energy from each other Below is a graph of the energy Florida Keys get each year.

15 The coral reef live in 70˚F – 85˚ F water that must be salty.
Corals are a major organism in this ecosystem. It provides food for animals and a habitat for others. The coral reef live in 70˚F – 85˚ F water that must be salty. Process of reproducing coral: The coral polyp floats briefly before it finds a solid place to attach itself to. Then, it builds in a colony and becomes taller years after years. Above is how the coral polyps look like.

16 Corals have four different habitats for coral reefs.
Hardbottom Patch Reef Shallow Offshore Reef Deep Offshore Reef

17 Different types of Coral reefs

18 Zooxanthellae use photosynthesis to make food and brightens the coal.
Animals eat algae for food; especially coral. Algae even lives inside the corals. They benefit from each other. Zooxanthellae use photosynthesis to make food and brightens the coal. Here’s how the zooxanthellae look like:

19 Groups of fish search around the reefs for food; algea.
Most fishes have diffrentcolors. Ex: Three spotted damselfish

22 What’s the Issues? People are stepping on the coral reefs even if there are signs. Corals can die easily. The nutrients of the keys is very poor in soil The climate change leads into a problems with money

23 The education is bad. When it is too hot, kids can go home.
Less coral reefs are being produced 27% of the world’s coral reefs is affected. Humans needs to stop stepping on the coral. Stop disturbing them
