Use the ribbons in Words Navigate the various menus associated with each Ribbon Create a new document Insert text in a document using various methods Save a document using the Save & Save As commands Close a document and properly exit the program

3 Starting Word… Name the methods for starting Word. Start button (most common method) Desktop shortcut (demonstrate how to create) Access the Most Frequently Used Programs list on the (left side) Start Menu

5 Using Ribbons & Tabs… Entering Text… Use of Ribbons & Tabs, Location of Ribbons Show how the most often Ribbon groups will display first on the menu How to expand a Ribbon group to see all options (dialog box launcher). 6 Entering Text… Enter text on the document What is word wrap? Key the following paragraph Using a computer to create, edit, and print documents. 8 Saving a document… Name the 2 saving options… Save As (SHIFT + F12) Save (CTRL + S) Show various Save-Save As features at the File tab Always save the file with a easily recognizable name. Save using the Quick Access Toolbar Learn how to save using different options… What characters cannot be used in saving / ? : * “ How to create a folder at MS Word Save often to avoid lost documents/files
