1 Year 11 Parents – Information Starter! (see what you would make of this – taken from June 2010 English Language Paper 2 - Foundation Tier) B1. The headteacher/principal of your school/college has proposed that all students should take part in a camping and outdoor activities week every year. Write a letter to him/her giving your views on this proposal [20] The quality of your writing is more important than its length. You should write about one or two pages in your answer book.

30 Year 11 Parents – Information What More Can We Do To Help? Provide extra sessions at appropriate times. Recommend external resources. Provide both academic and emotional support. Communicate with you in terms of progress towards targets including: – Interim report 4/10/12 – Progress evening 11/10/12 – Full report 11/2/13 – Interim report 25/4/13 Communicate early if things are not going as they should be – by text or phone call. By being there for you and your child.

31 Year 11 Parents – Information What More Can You Do To Help? ‘Encourage’ participation in extra sessions – e.g. Maths on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings! Ensure access to resources e.g. Mymaths and Mathswatch DVD. Provide a quiet working environment. Work out an at-home revision programme and oversee adherance. Provide incentives to success!
