2 What is Online Shopping? ● Online Shopping, or E-Shopping, is a form of electronic commerce which allows consumers to directly buy goods and services from a seller over the internet using web browser.

3 How Did Online Shopping Come to be? ● Online Shopping became hot during the internet boom of 1999-2000. ● Amazon.com was the first bookstore that was only present online. ● After that websites like Yahoo.com and MSN.com started selling more than just books online. ● Then it started becoming a world wide thing. India started selling items online as well on websites such as Indiatimes.com and Rediff.com for Inidan consumers.

4 Impact on Online Shopping Today ● Online Shopping has environmental and innovative impacts on consumers today. ● Direct effects for online shopping-how much energy a product draws. ● Indirect effects are more innovative than environmental. ● Indirect effects are that it saves energy, but the direct effect is the opposite. Some people don’t believe it saves energy.

5 Who Does Online Shopping Effect? ● Women are affected, but surprisingly so aren’t males. ● 80% from both genders use a desktop to purchase items online. ● 12% of men admit that they participate in showrooming, while women only participate in 9%, which is very surprising.

6 Pros of Online Shopping ● The stores are never closed. ● You save money on gas. ● Can escape from aggressive salesmen. ● Vast resources for product and price comparison ● Products can be found online that aren’t sometimes found in store

7 Cons to Online Shopping ● Inability to psychically check out item you want ● Backordered and the consumer doesn’t find out in time ● Never knowing if the website is safe or legitimate ● Having to pay for outrageous shipping costs

8 Plans for the Future?? ● Online shopping=Future ● In-store shopping still more popular ● A lot of money is made online shopping ● Chart shows in-store shopping beats online shopping
