3. Financial Aid & FAFSA Graduating seniors, you can still apply for FAFSA after March 2 if you plan to attend community college. You are applying to receive financial aid for 2011-2012.

5. Get a PIN Before you start filling out your FAFSA online, get a PIN (personal identification number). Go to www.pin.ed.gov.www.pin.ed.gov Get a PIN for yourself, and ask one of your parents to get one. This lets you sign your FAFSA electronically.

6. Information you need to fill out FAFSA Your Social Security Number, and your parents’ Social Security Numbers. Date of birth for you and for your parents (month, day, year). Month and year your parents were married, or divorced. Your driver’s license number, if you have one. Your Alien Registration Number, if you are not a U.S. citizen. 2010 Federal tax information--tax returns for yourself (if you worked in 2010) and for your parents. US Tax Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ.

8. California Desert Association of Realtors Sheila Ochoa and Ha (Syndi) Huynh were each selected to receive a scholarship from California Desert Association of Realtors.

9. The Othel Britton Memorial Scolarship Foundation, Inc. Mr. Othel Britton was a shop teacher at Raymond Cree Middle School for 30 years. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to selected students who have at least a 2.5 GPA, recommendations from two teachers, better than average attendance record, financial need, and are U.S. citizens. DHSHS Scholarship Applications have been submitted.

Palm Springs Modern Committee PSMODCOM (www.psmodcom.org) is awarding a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from DHSHSwww.psmodcom.org The local DHSHS scholarship application will be submitted on your behalf An extra essay about your interest in architecture or in an architectural preservation career is requested Minimum GPA of 2.5

14. Negro Academic Scholarship Fund DHSHS Scholarship Applications have been submitted. Winners will be notified in April.

15. Desert Hospitality Accountants’ Association Minimum of $500 scholarship for a student who will be studying either Hospitality Accounting or Hospitality Technology. 16. UCLA Club of the Desert Scholarships are available to graduating seniors who been accepted and are committed to attend UCLA’s Fall 2011 Freshman Class. Pick up a paper application in the Career Center. It is due by April 15, 2011.

20. Walter Clark Legal Group $1,000 Civics Achievement Scholarship Students who submitted the DHSHS Scholarship Application will be considered Minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated involvement in school and community service activities

25. Financial Aid Terms Scholarships are free money for college and are usually based on your area of study or merit, such as good grades, special talents, or community service. Work Study or Student Employment Programs let you earn money for college in a job on or off campus. Loans are borrowed money that you must repay, usually with interest. Grants are money you don’t have to pay back and are usually based on financial need.
