4 CWRA+ CORE Workshop What is CWRA+? The CWRA+ (College and Work Readiness Assessment) Began in 2006 as a high school version of CLA Over 200 schools participate Focuses on critical thinking skills like: o analysis and problem solving o written-communication o scientific and quantitative reasoning o critical reading and evaluation o critiquing an argument

5 CWRA+ CORE Workshop What are the tasks? The CWRA+ uses Performance Task 60 minutes Essay-based task with reference library of document Students given a role within a scenario to respond to a prompt

6 Selected-Response Questions Selected-Response questions 30 minutes 25 document-based questions Students select the most correct response to questions CWRA+ CORE Workshop

7 How is it delivered? The CWRA+ is delivered online through web-based tools secure browser that locks down the student’s computer desktop computers and/or laptops may be used.

11 CWRA+ CORE Workshop Testing Windows The CWRA+ has two official windows for testing. The fall window tends to run from mid-August to the end of October and the spring window from early February to mid-April. These are the general testing windows for this year: Fall 2014: Wednesday, August 13 – Friday, October 31 Winter 2015: Monday, January 19 – Friday, February 27 Spring 2015: Monday, April 27 – Friday, May 22

13 CWRA+ CORE Workshop Testing Plan Before the start of every testing window (fall, winter, and spring) a Testing Plan must be submitted. The Testing Plan asks for some basic information, including, but not limited to contact information and planned testing dates. The testing plan can be found at: http://www.cae.org/CORE

14 CWRA+ CORE Workshop Preparation and Resources In Advance of Testing Technology Support Perform System Check: http://cwra-systemcheck.programworkshop.com Work with your school’s technology department We are able to provide a demonstration if needed.

15 CWRA+ CORE Workshop Preparation and Resources Timing Accommodations Both time and a half and double time can be provided for students. An official statement on school letterhead much be provided. The following information must be provided for each student: Student’s first and last name Student’s email address Student’s birthday in the following format: (01/01/2001) Student ID The requested time accommodation (double time or time and a half) If you have students that will require extended time please indicate so on your Testing Plan. 17 CWRA+ CORE Workshop Live Demonstration 1.Break up in to groups of 3-4. Each group should have at least two computers. 2.Choose one person to be the Proctor, the remaining members of the group will be students. 3.Before we begin we’ll run the System Check.

Proctors read the Proctor Script found in the Test Administration Overview or have students view the Test Overview Video. Download and launch the Secure Browser.

25 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org This overview screen displays the amount of time students have for each section. If the student has extended time, this screen will reflect the timing accommodation. The student will be listed as Starting.

26 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org There is an optional tutorial that students will have up to 15 minutes to review. It is recommended that students review the tutorial. The student will be listed as Questions.

27 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org Once the Performance Task Scenario is reached the timer will start. Please note that the time can be hidden one clicking on it. The student will be listed as 1-PT NAME.

28 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org Click Next to advance to the Concluding Essay. You will notice that you are unable to advance if your essay space is blank. The student will be listed as 1-PT NAME 1 of 1.

29 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org Once a student navigates past the yellow warning screen they are unable to return to the Performance Task. The student will be listed as 1-PT NAME.

30 If a student clicks past this screen without answering the Performance Task please contact me or ITS Tech Support. Do not have the student continue on to the selected-response questions. Troubleshooting Yellow Warning Screen

34 If a student is brought to the abruptly brought to the Review Screen, they have accidentally clicked the Review button on the lower left. They are able to return to the questions by clicking Review Incomplete on the lower left hand corner. Troubleshooting End Screen

35 Proctors Students admin-cwra.cae.org cwra.cae.org The student will be listed as SRQ: Review Page. When the student arrives at the Review Screen they are able to click Review All to look over responses or they can click Mark Complete to finish.
