3 Accreditation Concept Clubs have to reach minimum criteria to become accredited Allows parents and new members to see that the club conforms to certain standards Encourages clubs to take on development & best practice Makes it easier for clubs to apply for funding

4 Current Schemes Sport England Clubmark is used by national governing bodies of sport (NGBs) as part of their club accreditation programmes for sports clubs with junior sections in recognition of a quality club. There are 4 categories: - The Playing Programme - Coaching - Duty of care and ethics - Club Management www.sportscotland.org

5 Current Schemes The BJA Club Recognition Scheme BronzeSilverGold  The BJA has developed its recognition scheme as a whole club development programme (not only work with children and young people as in clubmark).  Relevant to those working with adults and is comprehensive regardless of the size of membership, status of facilities or how often they meet.  The Scheme has three levels, which are bronze, silver and gold.

6 Current Schemes Charter Club  The Charter Club has been developed by clubs for clubs.  One Level of Criteria  Submission assessed by a Club Development Working Group

8 Angus Club Excellence Awards The Criteria In Groups…… Take criteria and separate into bronze, silver & gold Take two of the main issues that arose from your discussions to be fed back

9 The Club Will: Have proved/developed a strong structure to support an established club Have members that can participate in a safe environment with first aid provision Conform to new letting conditions by having a child protection policy in place Get one FREE place on a first aid course Get one FREE place on CHILDREN 1 st workshop on producing and implementing a child protection policy for clubs Get 1:1 help with Disclosure Scotland forms

10 Have as bronze plus; have appropriate supervision levels and qualified coaches for all youth and/or vulnerable adult sessions, (ratios for each sport to be confirmed) in a safe environment have disclosure checked coaches at all youth and/or vulnerable adult sessions. have club rules (codes of conduct), making membership responsibilities clear get one FREE place on the Running Sport ‘Valuing Volunteers’ workshop get one FREE place on SportsCoachUK child protection course The Club Will:

11 conform to new legislation by having appropriate procedures for the recruitment of volunteers protect club members by having up to date health & safety procedures and records maintain the clubs strength by actively promoting the clubs activities. conform to new regulations by having a child protection policy in place and a trained child protection representative The Club Will: Have as bronze & silver plus;

12 ACE Awards Administration & Maintenance Complete and return the self-assessment questionnaire Club is advised of initial award level to go for Support provided from sports services division to gain criteria Application made with evidence for award level selected SUCCESS! Award given to club Not reached the criteria yet Decide if club wants to go for the next award Once awarded the accreditation will last for one year, with the year- end being the 1 st April. A self declaration form will need to be completed to sustain the award.
