5 “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matt. 5:7

6 Meaning = Compassionate “The Merciful are those people who are touched and pained at the misery and misfortune of others.”

7 To Jews Mercy Signified: 1.Pardon of injuries 2.Giving alms Latin ~ Misery + Heart O.T. and N.T mercy is translated “kindness”

8 God’s Love 2 Cor. 1:3 – “Father of mercies” 1 Tim. 1:2 – “Grace, Mercy, and Peace from God our Father” Grace and Mercy extended to man by God God Grace Mercy Man Mercy Man

9 Strict Justice - no one could go to heaven “Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.” Ps. 85:10 Truth = man sinned Mercy = Christ’s blood covers Righteousness = right to enter Peace = Christ is the mediator God’s Mercy & Grace
