How Does This Effect Me?
13
Drinking and Driving a Killer night out!!!!! Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes kill someone every 31 minutes and nonfatally injure someone every two minutes (NHTSA 2006). During 2005, 16,885 people in the U.S. died in alcohol- related motor vehicle crashes, representing 39% of all traffic-related deaths (NHTSA 2006). Each year, alcohol-related crashes in the United States cost about $51 billion (Blincoe et al. 2002).
14
Effects A DUI results in a minimum of a 30 day license suspension and thousands of dollars in fines. Iowa SR22 vehicle insurance for DUI offenders is typically 3 times as high as regular insurance. http://www.luhs.org/depts/injprev/Transprt/tran1- 06.htm#Alcohol%20Crash%20Facts
