STEM Outreach

IEEE Central Texas Section What have I learned? There are many activities and programs to encourage K-12 STEM education. Many of these programs are adequately funded. Most of the adult participants are educators. We are not a profit making organization. We are a people organization. These organizations need engineering and science mentors and volunteers. The best way for us to help is to volunteer.

IEEE Central Texas Section Problems Encountered and Solutions Problem I am overwhelmed with the number of STEM activities. We need to focus. What do we want to do as a section? Solution I would like to form a committee to focus on the K-12 activities that our section wants to be involved in as a section. Meeting will be in February. The location will depend on the response.

IEEE Central Texas Section Problem Communicating Information about K-12 Activities to section membership? Solution Add a K-12 activities page to our web-site with information about upcoming events and publishing the information in the analog.

IEEE Central Texas Section My budget request for 2015 is $100.00 for a planning meeting early in 2015 with members who want to help in 2015. $ 200.00 to promote Discover Engineering $ 200.00 to support a chapter in carrying out a STEM activity such as the activity at Dripping Springs $ 300.00 sponsorship of Future City Competition

IEEE Central Texas Section Plans My Personal Plan for this year is To attend a few of the many STEM events to look for opportunities where our membership can serve To Provide support to the section and chapters in K-12 activities they wish to carry out such as the activity in Dripping springs.
