3 Past IEEE Events Annual Participation in the St. Mary’s Oyster Bake National Instruments Seminar Participation in SA Boosting Engineering Science and Technology Robotic competition Monthly meetings with speakers (career services, recruiting companies, Alumni, and others) Annual Christmas dinner for IEEE members Building a robot to participate in Region 5 robotics competition Picnic with other student organizations (IIE, Physics Society, and Math Club) Reviewed and revised our branch bylaws

4 Events for 2008 - 2009 At least 3 collaborated activities with local IEEE student chapters and surrounding schools Participate in the different student Competitions at the Region 5 Conference (Robotics, paper, and design competitions) Host mini-robotics seminars and competitions in preparation for Region 5 Conference Host workshops and lectures for members about engineering and problem-solving strategies Monthly meetings and Social Gatherings with guest speakers Recruitment of new members

5 Recruitment of new member Goals: Attempt to recruit at least 50% of incoming freshmen class. Have IEEE student branch officers explain the benefits of joining IEEE to the freshmen Recruit incoming Computer Science and Physics students Increase attendance to IEEE student branch- sponsored events and meetings by having every meeting include an outside speaker

6 Other Activities for 2008 - 2009 Increase collaboration between local IEEE student chapters Host workshops and tutorials to expand classroom/textbook knowledge to real-world applications Host miniature competitions (robotics, design) Start early preparation for the IEEE Region 5 Conference. Encourage students to attend IEEE Central Texas Section- sponsored events Organize field trips to local companies Participate in the National Engineers Week (February 15 – 21) Promote engineering at local high school
