North America North America Contains the countries of United States, Mexico, Canada, Greenland Largest city in North America is Mexico City Most popular languages are English and Spanish We have presidents, not kings We have five huge lakes, Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, Known as the Great Lakes

South America Has a river called the Amazon River which is the second largest river in the world Has largest rainforest in the world The biggest country in South America is Brazil Most popular language is Spanish, but the official language is Portuguese in Brazil The Atacama desert is the driest place in the world which is located in northern Chile

Europe It is made up of many countries that go by their own culture and language A series of mountain ranges including the Pyrenees, the Alps and the Carpathian mountains crosses Europe from east to west At one time most of Europe was covered in forest, but cut down to make way for cities The population is 698,727,000 of people Europe has the smallest country in the world called Vatican City which is 0.17 miles Europe is made out of 47 countries and compared to the United States only have 3

Asia Russia, Asia’s largest country covers up almost more than half of the continent of Asia Asia is the largest continent in the world Asia stretches almost half way around the globe, and covers one-third of Earth’s land mass Has world’s tallest mountains, world’s largest lake, and world’s lowest point on land It was the birthplace of many great religions and civilizations, and is now home to 60 percent of the people on Earth

Africa Africa is the world’s second largest continent in the world A thick band of tropical rainforest covers much of the center of the continent They have the world’s largest desert, the Sahara desert it spreads as far as 3,579,000 sq. miles Africa includes 53 countries ranging from vast to tiny islands Africa has the world’s warmest climate, it can reach up to 136 degrees Fahrenheit

Antarctica Antarctica is the coldest and windiest places in the world Antarctica is permanently covered in snow and ice During winter months there is little or no daylight Antarctica is a frozen continent surrounded by ocean Antarctica is the only continent with no permanent population

Australia and Oceania Australia is as big as the United States mainland, but has a smaller population than Texas The far northeast is tropical, with areas of dense rainforest Australia is sometimes called the “land down under” The population is 18,784,000 people The Great Barrier Reef, a coral reef that stretches 1,260 miles down the northeast coast of Australia, is the largest natural structure in the world, it is so large that astronauts were able to see it from the moon Oceania is all the islands that surround Australia
