Definitions Linguistics is the study of language Phonology is the study of phones or speech sound Grammar is the study of meaningful units of sounds and their arrangement into longer utterances Phonetics is the study of speech sounds without regarding to their function as signalling units of language Phonemics is the stud of speech sounds with a view to finding out its significant units of sounds in a give language

English Phonetics Deals with speech sounds that are used as signalling units in communicating ideas in the English language. The English language here is mostly used by educated British people in the southern part of England, and which is heard in BBC But, there is no one who can speak the same English. The different pronunciation is affected by many factors such as Geography, Social, Hostory, etc.

The use of Phonetics Learning a foreign language (English), one needs to learn how to speak Speaking English is how to speak like what a native English does It can be achieved by closely imitating and mimicking them untiressly until his pronunciation is satisfactory and acceptable to them

why students need to learn Phonetics? to be familiar with theory of Phonetics know general mechanisms of producing the foreign speech sounds by means of his speech organs know what's going on in his mouth when he is producing certain speech sounds know how to identify and correct any pronunciation mistake made by himself or others
