The Visionary High School Drop Out to Millionaire Walter Elias "Walt" Disney was a German American born in Hermosa, Illinois (near Chicago) on December 5, 1901. He had 5 brothers and one sister. Walt was raised in Marceline, Missouri. This is where he initially began painting and drawing. To earn money he sold his works to neighbors, family and friends. Walter went to McKinley High School in Chicago, took up photography and cartoonist for the school paper. He also took night classes at the Art Institute in Chicago, at the age of 16 he dropped out of school. Over the years Walter became a person of great influence, and an animator, producer, businessman cartoonist, film director, voice actor, screenwriter and actor. Wilkins Jr. - Section 003 - WALT DISNEY Corporation4 Ubbi is my Daddy!!! -Ubbe was born in Missouri and a cartoonist/animator, also Walter Disney oldest and closest friend. -Ubbe first successful cartoon character was “Oswald the lucky rabbit”. -Universal Studios decided they did not needs Walters help with this cartoon character. - Walter went to Ubbe (his go to guy) and asked him too create a cartoon for Walt Disney Productions. -Ubbe created Mickey Mouse and had to animate the first five Mickey Mouse cartoons also the Silly Symphonies. -Walt was so appreciative of his work, he listed Ubbi in the headline and introduction of the first cartoons.

The Success of “WALT DISNEY Productions” 1929 - The Silly Symphonies was created starring Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse. Flowers and Trees was the first color cartoon. 1933 - The 3 Little Pigs was a hit and the song “Who is afraid of the Big Bad Wolf” debuted. 1937 – Snow White and the 7 Dwarves came out and made 1.499 million dollars, during the Great Depression.
