3 Course Prerequisites and GPA Requirements The course prerequisites for admission are: 22M:017/MATH:1380 Calc and Matrix Alg for Business 22S:008/STATS:1030 Statistics for Business 6E:001/ECON:1100 Principles of Microeconomics 6A:001/ACCT: 2100 Intro. to Financial Accounting  Grades of C or higher in all courses listed above  2.75 minimum GPA: UI, CUM, and prerequisites  Minimum 12 s.h. UI coursework (transfer students exempt)  Accounting – 3.0 UI/CUM GPA, 2.67 average in financial and managerial accounting and a passing writing assessment score

The Accounting major has additional requirements for admission:  3.00 UI and CUM GPA  2.67 (B-) average in fin. and managerial accounting  A passing score on the accounting writing assessment test  The accounting writing assessment test is in addition to the admission essay, and is based on a Wall Street Journal Article. 6  Fall application deadline: March 1.  Spring application deadline: October 1.  Late applications will only be reviewed for those with extenuating circumstances.  All transcripts and final grades must be submitted by January 10 in order to be considered for fall admission, and June 15 in order to be considered for spring admission. Deadlines and Transcripts …Official transcripts are required from other colleges you have attended (other than the University of Iowa). You may not use a summer course to meet admission requirements for a subsequent fall admission. However, courses taken during summer session can be used for admission to a later session.

7 Resume Requirement  Approval through Hire-a-Hawk required.  Information on resume creation and example templates are available on-line and at the Pomerantz Career Center.available on-line  You can make an appointment at the Career Center to review your resume prior to submission.  Applicants who do not receive a passing score will be notified prior to the semester ending so that they can make corrections and resubmit – this is required for consideration of your application for admission.

8 Admission Essay Requirement  Admission essays will be one page in length (300- 500 words) and will address a specific question. There are two questions and you will choose to write on one. Additional information is available on-line at the Tippie Undergraduate Program Office website.two questions available on-line  Applicants who do not receive a passing score will be notified prior to the semester ending so that they can make corrections and resubmit – this is required for consideration of your application for admission.

9 What Happens If I Miss The Application Deadline? Most likely you will be applying for the next semester. There is a petition process to request to apply late, but those are infrequently approved. Valid reasons generally involve extenuating circumstances that were beyond your control.  If you miss the application deadline talk with your advisor before you complete a petition. Often you can apply for the next session without it adversely affecting your schedule.

10 What Happens If I Am Not Admitted ? After you receive your official notification from admissions (via email) that you were not admitted you have the option to appeal your admission decision – some important notes :  Talk with your advisor before you petition.  You may petition based on not meeting the GPA requirement, but not for a failing resume or essay.  Valid reasons generally involve extenuating circumstances that were beyond your control and additional documentation may be required.  Your petition must be submitted within 10 days of the date of notification.
