The practice of travel Public Relations has involved three steps! 1. stimulating the public’s desire to visit a place 2. Arranging for the travelers to reach it 3. Making certain that visitors are comfortable, well treated, and entertained when they get there

- literature -sponsor travel affairs - encourage group travel by showing destination films at invitational meetings Stimulation is accomplished - Through travel articles in both newspapers and magazines -Brochures distributed through by travel agents -Direct mail -Travel films -Videos -Presentations through the web U.S Travel agencies distribute

Good treatment is the key. GOOD TREATMENT OF TRAVELERS ARE A CRITICAL PHASE OF TRAVEL PROMOTION. (bad hotels, rude people, misplaced luggage,) Friends tell friends EVERYTHING! Careful training of travel personnel is essential. - People are going to depend more on other people to others to feel at home because it is different surroundings.

Travel Industry Association of America estimates - $43 billion lost revenue - lost 527,000 tourism- related jobs President Bush- two public service announcements to encourage people to travel SECURITY was strengthened EVERYWHERE!

INTERNET- huge impact on travel * air line tickets *hotel accommodations * travel packets (shopped and booked on web) websites such as travelocity.com -websites provide not only complete air line booking but sends e-mail notifications to members of fare changes for itineraries selected by online users

Travel promoters identify Target audiences AND special appeals and trips for them. Packaging is a key word for Travel public Relations. Package: prepaid arrangements for -transportation -meals -entertainment -With a Professional escort to handle the details

*Retired people have time to travel and have money. *Hotels, motels, and airlines offer discounts to attract them. * Alert travel promoters design trips with them in mind. * They find things such as little walking and so on. Largest Travel audience = seniors
