2  These courses are designed to promote interest and curiosity in science while meeting the most rigorous state and national content standards.  Students can build on their current scientific knowledge as they progress through a variety of course offerings.  These classes will assist them in becoming intelligent members of their communities, helping the students achieve personal and career objectives.

5 Advanced Placement Offerings  AP Biology offered 2014, 2016  AP Physics C (Calculus Based) offered 2014, 2016  AP Chemistry offered 2013, 2015,  AP Environmental Science offered 2013, 2015, Rigorous courses that cover material at a level comparable to freshman college courses

6 General Biology  Introductory lab course in life science which includes: ecology, molecular and cellular biology, genetics and evolution.

7 Honors Biology  Prerequisite Successful completion of Algebra I  Challenging course of the study of life science with a focus on laboratory work  Topics of study include cell theory, biochemistry, organizational and regulatory process and ecology and interactions of organisms in the environment  Includes a research project

8 Physical Science  Prerequisite : Biology  An inquiry based course focusing on physics, chemistry, and earth-space science concepts.  Preparation for chemistry classes  Includes laboratory work and interactive notebooks

9 Chemistry or Accelerated Chemistry

10 General Chemistry  Recommended prerequisites: Algebra 1 C or better and Biology  Designed for college bound students (science or engineering bound students should take accelerated chemistry)  Full year class  Independent laboratory project required

11 Accelerated Chemistry  Prerequisite: completed or concurrent Algebra 2  College prep class for students pursuing engineering, science or medical careers  Independent laboratory project required

12 Physics : Motion, Energy & Orbits Electricity & Circuits Waves, Sound & Light

13 Physics  Prerequisite: C or better in geometry  Projects such as rockets, robots, and laser shoots  Emphasis on physics concepts, although math will be used in the class

14 Semester Science Class Astronomy

15  Prerequisite: C or better in geometry  This course is a one semester introduction to the basic concepts of astronomy.  Stellar classification and spectroscopy, solar system and planetary motion will be studied  Emphasis on the concepts, laws and theories of physics that allow better understanding of astronomical phenomena

16 Semester Science Class Forensic Science

17  Prerequisite: Biology  Looks at the scientific techniques to provide evidence in criminal investigations  Multidisciplinary perspective involving:  Chemistry, biology, physics, criminology and toxicology

19 Marine Science  Prerequisite: Biology  One semester course designed for students interested in oceanography and marine biology  The interdependence of the ocean and marine organisms will be emphasized

21 Anatomy and Physiology  Prerequisite: Biology and Chemistry C or better  Lab based study of the human body  Designed for students interested in medical, health or fitness careers

22 Advanced Placement Science Classes  AP Biology

23 AP Biology  Prerequisite: Biology and Chemistry or teacher recommendation  Students should have excellent study habits  Designed for students interested in majoring in science or medical professions  Rigorous course that studies molecular and cellular biology, anatomy and physiology, genetics, ecology, evolution and organic chemistry and required AP Labs

24 Advanced Placement Science Classes  AP Chemistry

25 AP Chemistry Prerequisites:  Accelerated Chemistry, B or higher  algebra 2, B or higher  Students should have excellent study habits

26 Advanced Placement Science Classes  AP Environmental Science

27 AP Environmental Science  Prerequisite: Biology, Chemistry  Interdisciplinary course that studies a wide variety of topics including Earth’s Systems, Human Population Dynamics, Natural Resources, Environmental Quality, Global Changes and Society

28 Advanced Placement Science Classes  AP Physics C – Mechanics and E & M

29 AP Physics  Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in Calculus or instructor approval  Provides a firm foundation in physics for students intending to emphasize science in college  Topics include mechanics, electricity and magnetism  Calculus is utilized through the course to solve physics applications
