Body The body is where you write the content of the letter; the paragraphs should be single spaced with a skipped line between each paragraph. Skip 2 lines between the end of the body and the closing. Closing Let's the reader know that you are finished with your letter; usually ends with Sincerely, Sincerely yours, Thank you, and so on. Note that there is a comma after the end of the closing and only the first word in the closing is capitalized. Signature Your signature will go in this section, usually signed in black or blue ink with a pen. Skip a line after your signature and the P.S. P.S. If you want to add anything additional to the letter you write a P.S. (post script) and the message after that. You can also add a P.P.S after that and a P.P.P.S. after that and so on.

4 Sample Letter Example P.S. I love you. February 14, 2013
Dear valentine, Today is Valentine’s Day when friends celebrate their appreciation for one another all over the world. I couldn’t miss this opportunity and wanted to tell you how much you mean to me, and how you have made my life wonderful. You have always been there for me through the good times and the bad and you have never stopped caring for me. Thank you for being the best friend anyone could ever ask for. When I tell you something important I know that it will remain a secret. I hope that I have brought as much joy to your life as you have to mine. You are very special to me in each and every way and I hope you know how much I love you. Love, (your name) P.S. I love you.

5 Letter Directions Use the handouts that you were given at the beginning of class to plan out the letter you are going to write. Write a Valentine’s Day letter to someone special in your life. This could be a family member, best friend, teacher, or role model. Tell them why you have chosen them to be your valentine and why they mean so much to you. Follow the proper letter format that we went over in class. Make sure your letter has a date, salutation, body, closing, and signature.

6 Envelope Directions After the letter is written, collect an envelope and decorate the outside of it with markers, pencils, stickers, stamps, etc.. Once you have finished you will receive a piece of candy for your hard work! : )
