What is it Esophageal cancer or throat cancer is the rapid formation of cells. There are two types. squamous cell cancer and adenocarcinoma. squamous usually affects the flat plate like cells that align the neck adenocarcinoma is a more gradual process that occurs in the lower part of the esophagus.

Causes of Throat Cancer Brian
Can be inherited Mostly caused by smoking Overweight Gastroesophageal reflux; stomach contents go back to the esophagus, frequently Can be a side effect of medication

Sometime throat cancer is difficult to detect Signs of detection vary Early symptoms- Sore Throat Lump in the neck Trouble swallowing Ear/neck pain Change in voice

Stages Throat cancer starts to rapidly produce cells.
then it starts to cut of the air ways choking on food and trouble breathing Loss of voice Eventually leads to death

Effects of Throat Cancer
DEATH Loss of voice Tracheostomy (Hole in the throat to assist breathing); A Stoma is implemented upon undergoing a Tracheostomy to keep the hole open

Treatments Radiation Therapy uses high energy beams like gamma rays that deliver radiation to cancer cells thus killing the cancerous cells Surgery removes part of the voice box, the throat, and lymph nodes (Deep within the neck) so the cancerous cells no longer multiply Targeted drugs take advantage of specific defects in cancer cells Chemotherapy is a process which uses chemicals to kill the cancer cells(Sometimes used along with radiation) There is no known cure

NEVER START SMOKING or STOP IMMEDIATELY Don't drink alcoholic beverages Eat a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables; colorful fruits and vegetables have antioxidants and vitamins that reduce risks Protect yourself from HPV (Human Papilloma-Virus)
