2 A flat character is one who has only a few character traits. They can be described in one or two words. They tend to be minor characters and serve a specific purpose to the story. A round character is one has many different character traits. They are much like a real person and have a fully developed personality. Many times the protagonist and antagonist are round characters.

3 Character Traits: Sample Character Traits honest caring selfish sloppy brave determined You try it! Brainstorm in your group and come up with some other character traits. Make a list in your notebook. Words used to describe a character. A character may have several different character traits. They should describe some aspect of the character’s personality or physical appearance.
