2 Welcome to the Library © Central Institute of Technology The library is open 6 days a week during term time as follows: Monday to Thursday - 8.00am to 8.30pm Friday - 8.00am to 5.00pm Saturday - 10.00am to 3.00pm Hours are reduced during term breaks.

3 Library Card + Student ID Card + Photocopying Card + Printing Card © Central Institute of Technology A combined card is available from the Perth Campus Bookshop for $10. Remember to bring it when you visit the Library.

6 Latest Journal/Magazine Display © Central Institute of Technology New journals and magazines are placed on display until the next issue arrives. These publications provide really current information.

7 New Items Display © Central Institute of Technology These new items are available for immediate loan.

8 Comfortable Seats © Central Institute of Technology You are welcome to sit on these comfortable chairs and read.

9 Group Study Rooms © Central Institute of Technology There are 6 bookable study rooms. To book one ask at the Library Service desk. Bookings are for 3 hours maximum.

10 Lots of Books & Computers © Central Institute of Technology As well as books, journals, magazines, newspapers, CDs and DVDs; there are many computers available for students to use for study purposes.

11 Computers are free © Central Institute of Technology Computers are available for study purposes, free of charge. Log in using your user ID (04+student number) and password (Cent+date of birth). Bookings are for a maximum of 2 hours per day – no pre-bookings.

12 Wireless Connection for Laptops © Central Institute of Technology If you have your own laptop, wireless connection is available.

13 Printing/Photocopying © Central Institute of Technology This is where you print or photocopy using your combined card. Instructions are on posters above the machines. Costs - Black & White A4 = 15c A3 = 20c Costs - Colour A4 = 25c A3 = 30c

14 Adding Credit to your Card © Central Institute of Technology To photocopy or print, credit needs to be added to your card. Use the Smart Loader machine to insert coins or notes.

15 Search the Library Catalogue © Central Institute of Technology There are 2 terminals dedicated for searching the Library catalogue to find resources. Remember to limit your search to Perth campus.

16 Reference Collection © Central Institute of Technology The Library maintains a comprehensive Reference Collection. It contains a selection of encyclopaedias, dictionaries and atlases. They are not for loan.

17 © Central Institute of Technology General Collection This is the main collection. Books on the same subject are shelved together.

18 © Central Institute of Technology English Language Collection Resources suitable for students wanting to improve their English language skills are located in this special collection.

19 Examples of English Language Books: 428.34 © Central Institute of Technology Many of these resources have books with CDs attached. Please do not write in these books.

20 © Central Institute of Technology English Language Readers Readers are for people learning to read English. They include contemporary stories, classics and non-fiction.

21 Coloured Dots on Readers © Central Institute of Technology The English language readers have different coloured dots to grade them – Basic (pink); beginner (green); elementary (orange); intermediate(yellow); and advanced (blue).

22 © Central Institute of Technology English Language Readers The Pink Dot readers (basic) are for those students beginning to learn English. Look for the coloured dot that suits your reading level.

23 © Central Institute of Technology Examples of Readers: 428.62 Some of the readers have CDs so you can listen as you read the story.

24 Issues in Society © Central Institute of Technology This series of books provide up-to-date information on social issues and are suitable for a wide range of reading levels. They are on display next to the ESL Collection.

25 © Central Institute of Technology DVD Collection We have a large DVD collection – many are course related, others are for entertainment.

26 © Central Institute of Technology Australian DVDs There is a section that has Australian movies and TV shows. They have been chosen to help students understand Australian language and culture.

28 Borrowing Items: Total of 8 © Central Institute of Technology Once you have chosen the items you wish to borrow, this is where you check them out to yourself using your card.

29 Self Loan Station © Central Institute of Technology Follow the online instructions for checking out the items to yourself. You must have your card activated.

30 Returns Chutes: Inside © Central Institute of Technology There is a Returns chute inside the library at the front desk. Please return your items through this chute.

31 Returns Chutes: Outside © Central Institute of Technology There is also Returns chute at the front entrance for use when the Library is closed.
