4 “ Becoming a surgeon would take a lot of concentration and hard work but its going to be all worth the hard work and time. ” ~Sharmin Hussain. Being a surgeon would be a really interesting job because it actually saves people lives and you feel honored for helping. At first, it will be odd opening up people but after a while, you shall get used to it. 6  Physicians and surgeons work in one or more of several specialties, including, but not limited to, anesthesiology, family and general medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and surgery.  Surgeons specialize in the treatment of injury, disease, and deformity through operations.  Using a variety of instruments, and with patients under anesthesia, a surgeon corrects physical deformities, repairs bone and tissue after injuries, or performs preventive surgeries on patients with debilitating diseases or disorders.  Although a large number perform general surgery, many surgeons choose to specialize in a specific area.

7 Most surgeons work in private or public hospitals, although some may go into private practice. They generally work long hours, which may include evenings and weekend. Surgeons are also required to be on-call in case of an emergency. Surgeons operate in theatre rooms and everything within there must be completely sterile and surgeons must also wear protective clothing. Surgeons have a high level of contact with their patients and often the patients’ families. They also work closely with a range of other medical professionals, including general practitioners, nurses and anesthetists.

8 Education - Most of these occupations require graduate school. For example, they may require a master's degree, and some require a Ph.D., M.D., or J.D. (law degree and a professional degree). Training – surgeons need on-the-job training, but most of these occupations assume that the person will already have the required skills, knowledge, work-related experience, and/or training. Experience - Extensive skill, knowledge, and experience are needed for these occupations. Many require more than five years of experience. For example, surgeons must complete four years of college and an additional five to seven years of specialized medical training to be able to do their job.

13 Being a surgeon requires the audacity of looking at patients who have been severely injured. Surgeons are people who operate on patients to correct or remove malformations, repair injuries or conduct preventative procedures on patients. Also the salary of a surgeon is fairly high which helps me operate on my everyday lifestyle. Lastly it may take a while to accomplish my life goals but I know that its all worth it.
