2 The monroe doctrine America is off limits to Europe: no colonization, no fighting. The British enforced the Monroe Doctrine because we lacked military strength.

The U.S. became the International Police of the Western Hemisphere, in which they intervened in conflicts.

FDR wanted trade agreements with the nations in Latin-America to develop a hemispheric common front against Fascism.

7 The alliance for progress
JFK aimed to establish economic cooperation between North and South America. Although it worked for a brief time, it ultimately failed.
