2 CORRIDOR X ALIGNMENT Main Axis: Salzburg – Ljubljana – Zagreb – Beograd – Nis – Skopje – Veles – Thessaloniki Branch A: Graz (Austria) – Maribor (Slovenia) – Zagreb (Croatia) Branch B: Budapest (Hungary) – Novi Sad (F.R. Yugoslavia) – Beograd (F.R. Yugoslavia) Branch C: Nis (F.R. Yugoslavia) – Sofia (Bulgaria) and further via Corridor IV to Istanbul Branch D: Veles (F.Y.R.O.M.) – Bitola (F.Y.R.O.M.) – Florina (Greece) and further via Florina – Kozani (via Egnatia) to Igoumenitsa

3 GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ROAD CORRIDOR X  Road Corridor X consists of a total length of 2299,6km, as follows:  Main Axis: 1451,4km (77% motorways - 90% by 2008)  Branch A: 163,4km (55% motorways - 90% by 2012)  Branch B: 352,9km (28% motorways - 100% by 2009)  Branch C: 191,8km (74% motorways by 2010)  Branch D: 140,1km (no improvement)  Permitted maximum speed along the road axis: 120km/h (in most of the parts).  The axis consists of highways or motorways.  57% of the road network consists of motorways.  90% of the Corridor X Main Axis will be reconstructed or upgraded to motorway profile by the end of 2008.

5 Problematic sections on ROAD Corridor X (identified by the T.S. since 2001 ) Main axis  Bic – Obrezje (Slovenia) 75,5km: 16km of motorway constructed. Estimated completion of motorway by 2007.  Velika Kopanica – Zupanja (Croatia) 24,13km: Completed in July 2002.  Zupanja – Lipovac (Croatia) 29,43km: Construction works are expected to be completed by 2007.  Belgrade bypass (Serbia: Dobanovci – Bubanj Potok) 35,5km: Under construction. 16,8km of motorway almost constructed. Estimated completion by 2010.  Leskovac (Serbia) – Kumanovo (F.Y.R.O.M.) 127,1km: 21km almost constructed (Levosoje – F.Y.R.O.M. border).  Gevgelija – Axios Canyon (F.Y.R.O.M.) 44,5km

6 Branch A  Maribor – Gruskovje (Slovenia) 38,8km: 2,4km constructed. Estimated completion of motorway by 2012.  Macelj – Krapina (Croatia) 19,4km: Estimated completion of motorway by 2006. Branch B  Kiskunfelegyhaza – Rozske (Hungary) 60km: Construction will commence in 2004 (M5 motorway) and will be finished in 2006.  Horgos – Batajnica (Serbia) 176km: On going works of construction of rehabilitation. Estimated completion of motorway by 2009.  Belgrade bypass (Serbia: Batajnica - Dobanovci) 10 km: Estimated completion by 2006. Branch C  Nis – Kalotina (Serbia) 104km: Construction of a 98km motorway would commence in 2003  Kalotina – Sofia (Bulgaria) 49km (except Sofia ring-road): Works of reconstruction/ rehabilitation will take place during the period 2004-2005. 8 GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT RAIL CORRIDOR X  Rail Corridor X consists of a total length of 2528,2km, as follows:  Main Axis: 1742,3km  Branch A: 154,3km  Branch B: 305,6km  Branch C: 161,0km  Branch D: 165,0km  The whole axis consists of single and double tracks lines per direction in a proportion of 64% and 36% respectively  92% of the total length of the Axis is electrified.  90% of the Corridor X rail network will be reconstructed or upgraded by the end of 2010.
