To be aware of the codes and conventions of Action Adventure DVD film covers To be able to identify and follow the codes and conventions of Action Adventure film reviews

2 DVD Action and Adventure film covers
One of the biggest tasks facing the film industry is how to sell their product to an audience. Audiences watch films for a number of reasons. These may be to do with the following: Narrative Genre Production values Stars Other connected merchandise and products that extend interest in the original text.

Design/layout Use of colour Typography Use of space Connotation Positioning How do they represent Action Adventure and target the audience?

18 Film Reviews The film industry relies heavily on publicity. Reviews are an important source of information about films. They appear in a number of forms: TV programmes Magazines/ Specialist film magazines, such as Empire, Premiere, Hotdog & DVD Review, try to cover all feature films that are released. Rental & retail DVD releases Newspapers both national, local & freebies Radio stations have slots in programmes where newly released films are discussed Film websites Phone APPs

19 A good film review should be more than just the reviewer’s opinion of the film.
It should provide potential viewers with information about the film that will allow them to decide whether it is worth seeing or not.
