3 Cosmetic fitness is… Exercise or physical activity to achieve a body that is visually appealing (Larger muscles, well defined abdominals, less fat around waist, etc.)

4 The perception of attractiveness has changed in comparison to current times. -No toned muscles

5 Positive Effects Positive self and body image can be obtained through cosmetic fitness. As active lifestyles increase, our society’s health will improve. Cosmetic fitness…can be a positive addition to the overall fitness movement.(Sidentop & van der Mars, 2012, p. 155).

6 Negative Effects Media images of athletic and toned bodies become the goal for attractiveness Leads to serious behavioral disorders Anorexia Body dysmorphic disorder

7 My opinion on cosmetic fitness…
Positive motivator in society Inspires healthy physical activity Encourages confidence in self image Decreases hypokinetic disorders like obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.
