4. 1. How can the UE-CELAC’ companies help for a sustainable development? Real understanding of heterogenous markets/regulations/politics in the different LATAM countries. Understanding MARKET dynamics. Many of the technology products/services in Europe are associated with market with strong or partial subventions. This is not the case of: renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste and water treatment. Thus, solutions must be addapted to local needs. Understanding “local way of doing business” in each country. Many social, traditions, and “non- written” protocols are very different amoung countries in Latam and Europe. Each strategy should be addapted localy to each country. For institutional key players, a strong need of understanding private dynamics in the different economies in Latam. Example: Chile is a privatized deregulated market in energy, water treatment, telecomunications, mining, exportations/importations. Economic support for industry specific niches for CONFERENCES AND SEMINARS (water, energy, energy efficiency, infrastructure, technology, etc) / co-financing. Support of local companies information of new opportunities, project-investors matching, etc. Promote matching between Industry Niches Federation, Professionals Associations, Centre of Innovation & Technologies. Promote local initiatives that can me replicated, scalable, and exportable. Examples: know-how from Chile to Europe and from Europe to Chile, in specific market niches. 6. 3. How can private small companies can participate actively for sustainable development and climate change? Thus, the question is “what institutions and government can do” so small companies can participate more actively for sustainable development and climate change.

7. What is happening in Chile? Strong and clear regulation facilitate foreign investment. Country “in development” as get closer to developed countries the different stakeholders (local communities, politics, media, etc) get more sensitive to environmental issues. Cost of Energy is medium-high to high so there are incentives to promote energy efficiency solutions, and high cost-effective renewable energy projects. Promotion of technology and sustainable entrepreneurs by universities, private foundations, and government. About“made in Chile”: the First CO 2 reduction project under the Kyoto Protocol was made in Chile by the executive staff of Guardia Vieja at Chacabuquito Hydroelectric Plant (60.000 CO 2 tons/year) and was bought by the World Bank.
