9 QRS (Quick Router Setup) Mobile for iOS device This Only Works In Router Mode Note: Android “QRS Mobile” app coming soon 1. Scan the QR code block to download the “QRS Mobile” App from the App Store to your iOS Device. 2. From your iOS device, tap SETTINGS then Wi-Fi 3. Select the network that is displayed on your companion card. Then, provide the Wi-F- Password as listed on the companion card

10 QRS (Quick Router Setup) Mobile for iOS device 4. Once it is connected, tap the QRS Mobile icon on your iOS device. 5. Tap START to continue. 6. Follow the instructions and tap NEXT to continue.

11 QRS (Quick Router Setup) Mobile for iOS device 7. Once the Setup is complete, the following screen will be displayed. Select your new Wi-Fi Name and enter the password you just setup from your laptop or mobile device.

Access Point Mode allows the DIR-505 to be connected to a upstream router and act as additional wireless coverage. 27 Installing your DIR-505 SharePort Mobile Apps Enter http://dlinkrouter (or 192.168.0.1) in the URL, go to SETUP -> STORAGEhttp://dlinkrouter Make sure “Enable SharePort Web Access” is check. This allow you to access files from a USB external hard drive or USB thumb driver that is plugged into the DIR-505 from your local network using either a web browser or an app on your Mobile devices (e.g. smartphone or tablet). Enable “Allow Remote Access” in order for you to access content from USB drive on DIR-505 outside the network using Dynamic DNS feature. USB external hard drives will require a power source in order to mount 3. USB SSD drives does not work if it is exFAT format Note: SharePort Mobile is only work on Router/AP and Wi-Fi Hotspot mode.

39 FAQ Where should I place DIR-505? Ans: Router/Access Point: Find an outlet close to an Internet line (e.g. modem, switch) Repeater: Find an outlet in the middle between your Router(or AP) and your wireless client Wi-Fi Hotspot: Find an outlet close to an wireless access point so the DIR-505 can received the best signal. What wireless mode should I use? Ans: Router/Access Point: When wireless signal is not strong enough and there is an Internet line (e.g. modem, switch) Can I switch modes while DIR-505 still powered on? Ans: Please unplug the DIR-505 while not in use and then move switch to the desired wireless mode, then plug back to power outlet.

40 FAQ How do I make sure my DIR-505 is on? Ans: The DIR-505 is powered on and operating properly when the power LED is solid green. What if I can’t see the Wi-Fi Name from the companion card? Ans: Unplug the DIR-505 and plug back to power outlet, wait until the power LED turn green, and then reset the wireless utility from your mobile device or laptop. What is repeater mode for? Ans: This feature extend your wireless coverage. What is wireless network name for repeater mode? Ans: Once repeater mode is setup correctly, it will have the same SSID and Password as the device it is repeating. How can I get access to the GUI? Ans: Type http://dlinkrouter (for Windows) and http://dlinkrouter.local ( for Mac)http://dlinkrouterhttp://dlinkrouter.local

41 Why do I need Wi-Fi Hotspot Mode? Ans: Wi-Fi Hotsport receives the wireless signal from the access point and creates your own private network. For example, your DIR-505 get the IP address from the access point (e.g. 68.178.134.157 )and the DIR-505 has DCHP server which will be able to assign the private IP address to wireless client (e.g. 192.168.0.101). In addition to that, some places do not provide free Wi-Fi and charge for Wi-Fi per person. You can use Wi- Fi Hotspot mode to create your own private wireless network and only pay for 1 account, and will be able to share with friends. How can I connect my wireless devices to the DIR-505? Ans: From your laptop or mobile devices (Smartphone or Tablet) go to your wireless utility to display the available wireless networks and select the Wi-Fi name that is shown on your companion card (ex: dlink-a8fa). Then, enter the Wi-Fi password included in your card (ex: akbdj19368). If you have set your own Wi-Fi name and password, select the Wi-Fi name you previously create and enter your password. FAQ

42 What USB format does the DIR-505 support? Ans: FAT32 and NTFS What if my USB does not work? Ans: 1. Check whether your USB connect to DIR-505 properly. 2. Reformat your USB drive to FAT32 or NTFS. Can I access content from USB using web browser? Ans: Yes, you can type the IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.1:8181) in the URL in order to access the content via web browser What file formats can I play using web browser? Regarding size of external hard drive (I will find out and provide to you asap) Will it support Airplay? Ans: Yes, you can push the content via Apple TV to your TV. Can I upload file to my USB drive? Ans: Yes, you can upload the photo to your USB drive by clicking “File” from your SharePort Mobile app, then click upload.
